Your Thoughts: University of Kansas’ Newest Course, Angry White Male 101

Even when you have all the privilege in the world, if you break in a man’s house, kill most of his family and hold the rest of his family hostage while enjoying all the comforts and valuables of his house, you will forever have the burden and discomfort of looking over your shoulder the entire time you’re in his house, which could lead to anger issues.

Also, enslaving, raping, and separating people and pretending that it didn’t happen or was not so bad while never apologizing for it or repairing the enslaved people, can also have one looking over his shoulder daily which can surely lead to anger issues.

From the University of Kansas’ synopsis:

This course charts the rise of the “angry white male” in America and Britain since the 1950s, exploring the deeper sources of this emotional state while evaluating recent manifestations of male anger. Employing interdisciplinary perspectives this course examines how both dominant and subordinate masculinities are represented and experienced in cultures undergoing periods of rapid change connected to modernity as well as to rights-based movements of women, people of color, homosexuals and trans individuals.

The class will be taught by Humanities Professor Christopher Forth who’s a white man himself.

Kansas Rep. Ron Estes (R) criticized the course, saying how it will divide the student population.

A lot of white men have taken to social media to express their thoughts and feelings. Some were pissed while others were befuddled. Some even took it as a joke.
