Justice Clarence Thomas Slams Women Who Have Abortions as Heartless Eugenicists — The Root

Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas slammed women who have abortions as heartless “eugenicists” in a 20-page opinion Tuesday opposing the high court’s majority decision not to overturn a lower court’s ruling that blocked Indiana abortion restrictions that would have stopped women from aborting due to a fetus’ sex, race or disability.

According to Newsweek, the nation’s highest court on Tuesday did uphold a portion of Indiana’s abortion law that requires fetal remains to be buried or cremated. https://www.theroot.com/justice-clarence-thomas-slams-women-who-have-abortions-1835078801

  1. Hello Kreb. It is a fact that raising children takes money. Raising a special needs child takes a lot more money. Simply put, many women struggle to make ends meet and the cost ( with state mandated delays and extra cost causing rules ) of an abortion is already prohibitive for a lot of women. Now add to that the cost of burial / cremation for a zygote? What if a woman is not able to pay for such a thing, will the state pay for it? Will the funeral home be required to give the service for free? Back in 2007 I helped figure out a bare bones lowest cost cremation in NY state. The cost without a funeral and the least expensive options possible was over $2,000. Will they arrest and prosecute a woman for not being able to give a burial for the clump of cells growing in her body? This must be an undue burden! What a stunning uncaring hurtful law. Hugs

      1. Hello Kreb. I think you underestimate the bigotry some white people have for poor white people, or white people not of their religion. There is not a doubt in my mind that those labeled “white trash” women will be investigated and charged for the smallest if they have a miscarriage. Hugs

      2. Hello Kreb. I do not know if it is the same in the communities of color, but white people have a need it seems to have someone to look down on. That includes other white people. I have seen this in all white churches, in white mobile home communities, and in white homeowners associations. It is a bigotry that disgusts me like all other forms of bigotry. Hugs
